Through the entire whole story of Des Miserables, Hugo develops many different themes: take pleasure in, redemption, very good and bad, charity, suffering, societal inequality, justice… Each of them is tied collectively, and every motif has the significance to get the book. However , i believe, the theme of justice is central in the book. It protects the development of each character and fully shows the whole level of the book called " Misérables" – rejected, underneath of culture; moreover, proper rights is also the main goal of the French Revolution which has an important place in the plot. Hugo opposes individual justice (or the lack of it) to the accurate divine proper rights and, through his personas, proves which the last one is always at some point established.

The theme of justice starts out in the very beginning once Hugo reveals how unjust human society is by presenting first personas: Jean Valjean and Fantine. This human " justice" doesn't even quit there, this continues if the former convict looks for lodging overnight. Right now Fantine: besides all other amazing hardships that she had to come through as a result of societal cruelty, she was unjustly convicted by Javert – police officer. As a result viewers see that man justice is pointless in the ferocity: instead of correcting equally Valjean and Fantine, it made one particular a betrayer and another – a whore. Only divine Christian justice displayed by the bishop and then by Valjean himself put them on the proper track.
